CONFIGURING YOUR UNIT

Y ou can configure your unit using a trimmer

hea d for grass and light we eds, or a weed blad e

for cuttin g grass, weeds, and brush up to 1/2

in ch (1 cm) in diam eter. To asse m ble yo ur unit,

go to the section for the desired configuration

and follow the instructions.

NOTE:

fore a ttaching the plastic shield and trimmer

head . To remo v e blade , align hole in the dust

cup with the hole in the side of the gearbox by

rotating the blade. Insert a small screwdriver

into aligned holes. This will keep the sh aft from

turning wh ile loose nin g th e blade nut. Remo ve

blade nut by turning clockwise. Remove the

screwdriver . Remove both wa shers and b lade.

To remove metal shield, loosen and remove the

fou r moun ting scre ws. See ATT ACHI NG THE

MET AL SHIELD and INST ALLATION OF THE

ME TALBLADEfo rillustra tions. Besure to store

all parts and instructions for future use.

INSTALLATION OF THE TRIMMER

HEAD

NOTE:

Before installing the trimmer head,

make sure the dust cup and retaining washer

are positioned on the shaft of the gearbox.

The retaining washer must be positioned with

the raised section toward the gearbox.

1. Align holeint hed ust cupwith thehole in the

side of the gearbox by rotating the dust cup.

2. Insert a small screwdriver into aligned

holes. This will keep the shaft from turn-

ing while tightening trimmer head.

3. While h old ing th e scr ewdriver in position,

thread trimmer head onto the shaft by turn-

ing counterclockwise. T ighten until secure.

4. Remove the screwdriver.

ATTACHING THE PLASTIC SHIELD

W ARNING:

The shield must be prop-

erly installed. The shield provides partial

protection from the risk of thrown objects to

the operatorandothersand is equipped witha

line limiter blade which cuts excess line to the

proper length. The line limiter blade(on under-

side of shield) is sharp and can cut you.

1. Remove wing nut from shield.

2. Insert bracket into slot on shield.

3. Pivot shield until bolt passes throughhole

in bracket.

4. Tighten the wing nut securely .
